This month, we interview Japan based vintage boutique eLADY. Not only stocking a vast array of vintage handbags and purses, they also have a phenomenal collection of watches from brands such as Rolex, Omega and Chanel, and amazing jewellery from the likes of Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels.
When and why was eLADY created?
eLADY was created in 1999 as the first e-commerce company for pre-owned luxury brands in Japan. At that the time we sold only within Japan but we quickly saw a demand for luxury items worldwide and started selling overseas. Japan has a large market of high quality pre-owned goods but for a lot of buyers the language and international shipping is a barrier. eLADY is working as an aggregator and allows people to buy incredible vintage with seamless customer service and shipping. We now sell our products across Europe and in the United States.
What is your favourite type of vintage product to collect and why?
We like to collect jewellery pieces that will last the test of time, so going for classic looks with brands like Chanel, Cartier or Christian Dior would be our choice.

What is your favourite vintage watch you’ve stocked and why?

When looking to invest in a vintage watch, where do you recommend starting?
The Omega Speedmaster and Seamaster models are a great start. There are lots of variations in design & color to choose from, with a reasonable price point for first time buyers. These models are evergreen items and therefore can easily be resold when you are ready to upgrade to a different model.
If you could only keep one piece of vintage from your personal collection, what would it be and why?
The black Chanel Matelasse Flap Bag. A classic that never goes out of style and goes with any outfit.
