A stunning strapless evening dress from the 80s by cult British designer, Sarah Whitworth, who was known for her gothic, historical dresses, some of which are featured in museums like the V&A. This dress is a great example of her work, with a strapless, lace up, boned corset bodice that has a pointed shape and ruching at the bust to give a flattering look. In an iridescent teal and black satin jacquard fabric with a tapestry style floral pattern woven throughout.
The cut is incredible, with a high low design that is a shorter, above the knee length in the front and long at the back, creating a dramatic, almost S curve silhouette. The skirt has a tulle net petticoat underneath, that is trimmed with a satin bias trim, to create more volume, making it the perfect dress for an evening event or as a gothic/ alternative inspired formal / prom dress.
