Antique Edwardian silver folding buttonhook pendant strung on a new sterling silver chain. The piece has a number of hallmarks indicating the piece was hallmarked in Birmingham, England.   Buttonhooks were used to guide a button through the loop on gloves and shoes. Victorian and Edwardian women wore their gloves very snugly no doubt to emphasis their dainty wrists. During World War I leather become scarce high top shoes went out of fashion taking button hooks along with them.      HALLMARKS Anchor (Birmingham), Lion, Letter (unfortunately the letter isn't clear). Makers Mark - 'AL Ld' Adie & Lovekin Ltd, Alfred Lovekin, Frederick Street, Birmingham   WEIGHT 5.29g   MEASUREMENTS The glove hook measures 1.2cm / 3.2" (closed) and 5.2cm / 2" (open) in length. The pendant hangs from a new extendable sterling silver chain measuring 40.6cm - 45.7cm / 16"-18” chain.   SKU 6321 - Silver
